Hello!!
First off,      HAPPY BIRTHDAY HANNAH!!      I love you and I hope you have a fabulous birthday!! :)

So this week has been fun! I have had the chance to welcome Sister Rose (my new companion) to good ol' Fairborn!! We haven't had a ton of opportunities to teach but we are doing our best. We have been teaching the lessons to active members at dinner to give her the chance to practice and that has worked really well!!
My Scary/Cool Experience of the Week
We went to meet a less active member in the elders area. She answered and was very nice, we were able to have a pretty good chat with her. As we were leaving, her next door neighbor called over to us. We went up to talk to him and he started yelling at us. He keeps saying how he can't believe that we are gullible enough to be brainwashed into believing the Book of Mormon which leads people straight to hell. He also accused us of worshiping Satan and kept swearing horrible things at us.

At this point I kept trying to interrupt to give us a chance to get away but he just kept getting closer and more angry. I was so scared that for a moment I thought he was going to chase us down if we tried to leave. I knew he would just keep yelling and I had no idea what to do. We just listened for about 5 minutes and didn't say a thing. Then finally he asked me a question and I mustered up all the kindness I could and said he has his beliefs and we have ours, have a good day.

He laughed in our faces and then screamed that we better run. we got into the car and drove away quickly. I felt so bad because Sister Rose was really shaken up and both of us didn't feel the Spirit at all. It was so scary and I have never had someone so openly and angrily scream in my face and attack everything I hold closest to my heart.

After we calmed down for a moment we read a few chapters of the Book of Mormon together to bring the Spirit back. This was a very crazy experience but as I pondered it, I realized that it was actually a great faith building experience for me. I thought of the talk by Elder Holland this last conference about being a disciple of Christ. I thought of the story of the 2 sister missionaries that were spit on and had food thrown at them. I could suddenly relate to that experience way better.

I went back and read that talk and Elder Holland says that we will all face moments where our faith is ridiculed, challenged and attacked. He goes on to say that when we are faced with this experience, we have the opportunity to be in Christ's shoes for just a moment. He was constantly mocked, ridiculed and rejected. Once I saw it this way, I was honored to be able to stand up for what I believe in and truly be a representative of Jesus Christ. I am proud of what I believe in and I know that I have worked hard for my faith and I am grateful to be able to continue to grow it!

I know my Heavenly Father lives and loves each and everyone of us, even that incredibly confused and angry man. He has given us the Book of Mormon so we can find peace and happiness in this life! I have found so much guidance and direction from the scriptures, specifically the Book of Mormon. I know I am a daughter of God and I have been chosen to represent my Savior Jesus Christ! I know Christ lives and he is with each and everyone of us every day! I know that no matter what happens, everything will be made right through the atonement of Jesus Christ and every single person that comes to this earth will have the opportunity to learn about these truths and accept them if they choose to!

I am so proud to be a member and a missionary for Christ's true church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and I love every second of being able to share that with everyone and anyone who will listen through my words, actions and example! I love this work and I love this gospel!! I say these things in the name of my beloved Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ. Amen.
I love you all and wish you a wonderful week!! :)
Our last few minutes together as companions :(

 Polka dots galore!

We played softball today!! I didn't do nearly as bad as
I was expecting! I hit the ball 4 times and even made it through the bases once!

Hello!!

So today we got transfer calls and the verdict is: I am staying and Sister Jensen is leaving. But we are both training new missionaries which is super exciting!! I have actually been praying and fasting lately that I will be able to push myself harder and finish out the last few months of my mission strong and then I got the call that I was training so I take that as my answer and I am super excited!!!
This last week has been great!! Basically every single investigator we have been teaching dropped us in the last 2 weeks but that's ok, we are still pressing forward. And have a few people that are showing interest and we are starting to work with. We are basically starting fresh and new but it feels really good. I am so excited to just go out and work my little butt off!! :)
Not too much has happened lately except that last Wednesday morning we were running for morning exercise and somehow my foot got caught on an uneven sidewalk and I totally tripped and fell. I scraped my knees really bad but kept running but when we got home I had blood dripping all down my legs and Sister Jensen was so good to me and bandaged me all up! She's studying nursing at BYU so fixing me up was good practice for her!
So we met a lot of interesting people this week. One guy has apparently been studying the word for the last 50 years but 30 of those years were in jail. But first he told us that the Book of Mormon leads people down to hell but after we started talking about it for a few minutes he told us he believe it's true. He also started crying int he middle of our discussion and looked at me and said my calling in life is to be a preacher and then he looked at Sister Jensen and told her that her calling in life is to be an interior decorator, apparently God told him that. It was hard at times to not just bust up laughing but we held ourselves together pretty well.

We also met a man named Steve who was sitting on his porch smoking and eating ice cream. He invited us to sit down and chat then he offered us ice cream so he went inside the house but uses a walker because one of his legs is paralyzed and he got both of us ice cream cones. It was the sweetest thing ever and we had a good 45 minute chat with him!

Things have been super great here in the Great Ohio but tomorrow will definitely be bitter sweet! I am losing Sister Jensen but getting a new companion. And Sister Mitchell (my trainer and companion for 6 months in Madison Lake) goes home tomorrow which is super sad! But that's ok! Life goes on and I am still livin it up and loving the mission!! :)
I love you all and pray for you always!! :)

Love Sister Britni Johnson :)

My poor bloody knees!

 I love Sister Jensen!!

July 28th, 2014

Hello everyone!!!!
I can't believe July is almost over! It definitely doesn't feel like it because it barely feels like summer most of the time. This is the coldest summer Ohio has had in a long time. It's weird but it's super nice being a missionary in it because we aren't completely dying in the heat and humidity!

Scripture of the Week
"Choose ye this day to serve the Lord God who made you."- Moses 6:33

Short, sweet and to the point. Everything in life is a matter of choice. Are we going to choose to serve and love God or the adversary? It hit me hard how simple things can be sometimes yet somehow as humans we always manage to complicate everything!

Updates
This week was very interesting. It's crazy how fast the majority of our investigators are just disappearing. It mostly just makes me sad because I start to love our investigators so much and I want this so badly for them. But that's ok because I know I am doing my part and the Lord will take care of the rest! We are still being blessed so many times everyday so don't worry, we are keeping our chins up!!

Next Sunday is the start of the 40-day fast we are doing in our ward. Basically a different family signs up to fast each day for the length of 40 days. They fast specifically for the missionary work in our ward or for their own personal missionary experience. It's a great way to unify the missionary effort between ward members and full time missionaries. It's awesome to see how excited everyone is getting about it. We have almost all the slots filled and everyone is more than happy to help out. We haven't even started it and we are already seeing miracles happen right and left. I am so excited to see what happens and be a part of all the personal missionary experiences for the members here in this ward.

I love being a missionary so much! The Lord is truly hastening his work and I can feel it and see it happening all around me. This is a marvelous time to be alive! I hope everything is going well for everyone else! Thanks for the constant love and support, I can feel you love and prayers with me always! I love you all and hope you have a wonderful week!! :)

P.S. Transfers are next week so we will see what happens, I would love more than anything to stay here in Fairborn with Sister Jensen! :)
